Pepper Spray Is Not Just for Women
For any guys out there that think pepper spray is just for girls, think again. Pepper spray is one of the most effective devices available on the market, and comes in keychain sizes that make it something you don’t need a purse for just to carry with you. Buying pepper spray is one of the few purchases you’ll make in your life that can literally save your life, and there’s no shame in carrying one of these personal safety devices with you, and it’s really something that no one should be without: man or woman.
What’s that? You say you’re a strong man and can take care of yourself?
The truth is that even trained martial artists admit that if they’re assaulted by a violent criminal armed with even just a blade or baseball bat, it’s highly unlikely that they will be able to completely defend themselves from being maimed or cut in an attack. Additionally, many muggings are carried out by small groups of young men, which means that even if you’re built like a prizewinning boxer, your chances of defending yourself against multiple attackers is fairly slim. When you consider the tradeoff between adjusting your pride settings and carrying a pepper spray device verses getting a serious beat down, it’s clear to any intelligent individual that buying pepper spray is well worth swallowing your pride in order to be able to defend yourself in a time of need.
And let’s face it, many of us take for granted that we’re in a safe position as grown men in society, but forget that there are plenty of other grown men out there who are committed to eking out a survival based on violent crime, and these criminals often prey on us at our most vulnerable moments. Muggings often occur late at night in the very same alleyways most of us park our cars in when we go to crowded clubs and bars. Leaving such a venue, most of us are at least slightly inebriated and while perhaps we should be handing our keys over to a friend, the decision to drive home may be life threatening before you even reach your car. Should an attacker appear with a weapon and threaten to attack you if you don’t turn over your wallet, you’d hardly be in any condition to defend yourself in a drunken state; but with a canister of pepper spray at your disposal you’d be able to defend yourself against such an assault.
Even police prefer to use pepper spray, often combined with MACE, in order to subdue attackers rather than resort to batons or guns to take down an unruly criminal. A key reason for this is that it keeps them at a safe distance from the target, and allows them to completely incapacitate them with no use of physical force.
If you think it’s more “manly” to carry a gun, think again. Most clubs will not allow you to carry a gun anyway, and in most cities you need a license and a holster to keep such a weapon with you. Should you be carrying an unlicensed gun with you, you could be liable for a variety of charges should you actually deploy it, even if it is used in self defense. Worse yet, your gun, which you bought presumably to protect yourself, can easily be misused and cause injury or worse to yourself or those around you, and could feasible be turned against you in a violent encounter.
While it may not be easy to face the fact that we are all vulnerable to assault in this day and age, it takes a real man to understand that personal protection devices such as pepper spray are not just a good idea: they are a means of saving your life.
